Thank you for the nice words – yes, I love the Japanese aesthetics in these books too, and Kinokuniya is one of the first on my list of places to visit when we go to N.Y.

Kinokuniya Bookstore is an amazing place, I forgot to mention that in my earlier comment. It is truly a feast for the eyes even if the virtually all of the text is in Japanese.

Ellen, I have really appreciated your posts on the Japanese bags and crafts. I am intrigued by the aesthetics and by the fact that one of my best friends growing up was second generation Japanese American. I grew up with her dolls and crafts as well as my own.
It makes me curious about your own interest. That might make an interesting blog post.;-)

Hi Anita!! I love the designs, too, but they would be easier to make if the directions were in English. They do have pretty clear how-to diagrams though, which helps.
